Deidre Lane was born in Norwalk, CT and has lived in Scottsdale, AZ, Carmel, CA and New Canaan, CT, most recently moving to Greenwich, CT. Deidre’s passion in her artwork initially came from the desire to support children that are confined to hospitals for long periods of time with families that are already struggling with the economic conditions where they live. Deidre feels very blessed to have healthy children, and after her semi-retirement in January, she made it her mission to benefit hospitals around the country with her “child friendly” paintings.
Since January of 2017, Deidre has been fortunate to hang her paintings in the ABC House in Harlem, NY, Kentucky Children’s Hospital in Lexington, KY and 58 prints in the new Pediatric/Neonatal ICU Units of the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, being one of the first artists to have her art hung in this new wing and The Child Care Council of Kentucky, who has delivered her prints to several daycares around the city. Deidre continues her mission to seek out hospitals in low-income areas to donate her art.
Deidre’s love for animals of all species comes out in her smiling, childlike paintings. “I think all animals should have a chance to be happy”. One day I hope my artwork can benefit animals as well in anyway possible. They give us all unconditional love, and we need to reciprocate that love to all animals, but I am taking this one step at a time”.
