Gayle C. Krause lives in a cliffside lodge in the Pocono Mountains with a view of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania with her husband and first reader and critiquer. She writes picture books, MG, and YA novels and is a member of SCBWI, the 12×12 Online Picture Book Challenge, and a past member of The Poets’ Garage, the Historical Novel Society, and RWA.
Her short stories and poems can be found in Hopscotch for Girls, Boy’s Quest, Highlights and various anthologies – Chicken Soup for the Kid’s Soul II (2006), Meanderings: A Collection of Poetic Verse (Diversion Press (2009), and And the Crowd Goes Wild (Friesen Press 2012).
Her seasonal rhyming picture book, Rock Star Santa (Scholastic 2008) was a Book Club original and her YA historical short story, Scheherazade’s Secret, has been made into an e-book novella for Trowbridge Books.
Her YA novel, RATGIRL: Song of the Viper (a retelling of The Pied Piper set in a dystopian future with global warming) was published in 2013 by Noble Romance and was nominated for the Boston Globe/Horn Book Award, The International Reading Association Award and RWA’s Prism Award.
