Jen Storer; author, creative writing teacher, creativity coach. Published by HarperCollins and Penguin/Random House. Jen lives in inner city Melbourne, Australia. Her brick terrace backs onto a carpark, an Italian restaurant, and to Jen’s delight an art supplies shop.
Jen began working in the publishing industry in the late 90s when she was project manager, editor and roustabout for a boutique children’s book publisher. She has since gone on to write many books for children including the best-selling middle grade series, Truly Tan (currently being translated into Portuguese). Jen’s acclaimed gothic fantasy, Tensy Farlow and the Home for Mislaid Children was shortlisted for numerous awards and continues to win the hearts of children and adults alike. Her latest novel, The Fourteenth Summer of Angus Jack, blends Norse mythology and urban fantasy. Described as ‘fresh and utterly compelling’, it was a notable book in the 2016 Children’s Book Council awards. Jen’s debut picture book, Clarrie’s Pig Day Out, illustrated by Sue deGennaro, was released in March 2016. Described as ‘a cracker’ it’s about an old farmer who gets his words mixed up. Jen also blogs about writing for children, at girlandduck.com. She posts a weekly Q and A video (otherwise known as Questions and Quacks). Through blogging, teaching and a variety of other projects, Jen encourages women to embrace their creativity. She is 2016 Melbourne ambassador for The Footpath Library, a national charity that provides books for the homeless.
