Steven believes that any subject he is asked to illustrate demands the creation of the best images to tell the story in the most interesting way possible. He works in both traditional and digital media. Steven's storied career includes many awards, successful children's books, and work as an illustration teacher.

Mapache is a proud warrior who was blinded in battle yet remains independent among his tribe. In this story “ The Tail of The Raccoon” Mapache survives the winter months while his friends are away. He is respected and cared for by his people so I tried to capture the feeling of reverence they have for him in this illustration. (Digital painting)
