Raquel Lagartos is a Spain based illustrator, comic artist and art teacher. She has attended the School of Art of Oviedo and has a degree in Mathematics. Raquel has collaborated with several publications and institutions and taken part in collective exhibitions. She enjoys painting with watercolor and all media she finds on her messy table.

Raquel’s father was born in a very, very small town so she spent most of her childhood holidays running after grasshoppers, sowing potatoes and eating grapes during harvest time. She still likes doing that. Maybe because of this, Raquel loves slice of life stories and finds on them a huge inspiration to her illustrations and comics.

Her art has a focus on character’s feelings and the magic of the things we are surrounded by. The main objective of her work is teaching children the importance of being respectful with people and nature and help them to find the joy of reading.
