Shea McGlone is Program Director for CWG’s literacy initiative Heart of the Story. She creates, coordinates, and oversees community outreach programs that foster a love of reading and a greater awareness of children’s literature. Heart of the Story provides opportunities to share and celebrate storytelling, gift books, and to disseminate information on matters relating to children’s literature. Heart of the Story is presently working to grow their pet reading therapy program, which will partner CWG ambassadors, and their friendly canine companions, with children learning to read. CWG ambassadors visit libraries, schools, hospitals, and childcare centers, etc., sharing the joy of reading and a greater appreciation of pet reading therapy and its amazing benefits.
Shea is also a certified pre/postnatal yoga teacher and Lamaze childbirth educator. She is especially interested in children and women’s health, and after completing her ongoing studies she intends to pursue a doctorate in a field related to her special interest. In addition to her academics, Shea loves to read, write, and spend time learning and growing with her two-year-old son, Bradley.
