Taneeka Bourgeois-daSilva is an award-winning author, credentialed teacher, blogger, and entrepreneur. She is the author of the new children’s book series, Little Kids, Big Voices. Her first book, Broccoli Chronicles won the 2015 National Indie Excellence Award in Children’s Fiction has been selected as a finalist in Foreword Reviews’ 2014 INDIEFAB Book of the Year Award! Taneeka’s article, “Try, Try Again” was published in the October 2014 issue of the IBPA Independent Magazine and she has been featured in other media. With six years’ writing experience and over ten years’ experience as an English teacher, she continues to provide educational and writing tips to parents and aspiring writers through her blog and social media.

In 2008, Taneeka started TCD Kids Foundation, a non-profit organization that offers tutoring, mentoring, service learning, community-based projects, supplementary curriculum, and more to youth. In 2011, Taneeka also started Building Voices, an independent publishing company that specializes in children’s fiction in efforts to encourage, entertain, and motivate children around the world through reading. Taneeka has taken several creative writing courses through the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program, and with two Master’s Degrees under her belt she is considered an expert in her field. She has several profile pages including Goodreads and LibraryThing, and is a member of SCBWI and IBPA. Lastly, she is an Educational Consultant for Educatext and has an Administrative Credential which validates her role as an educational leader.

In Taneeka’s spare time, she loves reading and writing children’s books, primarily easy readers and chapter books. She also enjoys volunteering at her church and giving back to the community.

Taneeka is a graduate of Chapman University and currently resides in Los Angeles, CA with her husband, her daughter, and her Yorkshire Terrier, Sebastian.
