Steven believes that any subject he is asked to illustrate demands the creation of the best images to tell the story in the most interesting way possible. He works in both traditional and digital media. Steven's storied career includes many awards, successful children's books, and work as an illustration teacher.

This book is a retelling of the classic Gingerbread man. The book has been issued before but it was time for a fresh take on the artwork. This gave me a chance to create a stylized look while maintaining accurate details. The dramatic perspectives used lend a sense of urgency to the illustrations until at the end where things “flatten out” a bit as the chase ends. The characters and colors will hopefully appeal to the younger audience. The illustrations are digital watercolor, using Adobe Photoshop and custom brushes and blenders.
